CHECK OUT THIS EVENT ON FACEBOOK
Join award winning Celtic sister duo Cassie & Maggie MacDonald and acclaimed multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Andrew Sneddon to explore and celebrate the musical and literary legacy of Robbie Burns. These three distinguished young artists represent a new generation of musicians acknowledging and embracing the importance of Burns' influence on traditional and contemporary folk music. Sharing a deeply rooted love for their Scottish heritage, these three were reared on the words and songs of Burns; his impact serving as a springboard for their own respective careers in folk music.
Together they will pay tribute to the many facets of this well loved figure with performances of some of his lesser-known works. Burns’ ability to inspire and beguile the next generation of musicians and poets with his words and melodies some 220 years after his death is indeed a remarkable feat; join us as we pay homage to his extraordinary legacy.
Live Ireland Radio’s “NEW GROUP OF THE YEAR”, Chicago Irish-American Newspaper’s EMERGING ARTIST RECORDING OF THE YEAR winners, Galaxie Radio Rising Stars, Independent Music Award "World Song of the Year" nominees, multiple Canadian Folk Music Award, East Coast Music Award and Music Nova Scotia Award nominees, Cassie & Maggie encompass everything you could ask for in a musical act. Exciting and innovative, they have found a perfect balance between musical integrity, and sheer entertainment. While staying true to their Celtic roots, they have explored and tested the boundaries of traditional music, bringing a breath of fresh air to the genre with original compositions and arrangements. They have been enchanting audiences far and wide with their infectious energy, driving rhythms and lilting melodies.
